Design 3
This museum was designed with the new urbanism principles in mind. The project began with an in-depth study of New Urbanism, followed by a close analysis of a site provided by the professor. After many diagrams and two site plans, I was able to begin my design. Due to the crowded hot atmosphere created by the buildings surrounding the site, I chose to create a spacious area to promote calm fellowship and community. Likewise, I design a shaded open area under the building for shaded gathering protected from heavy rain and the hot sun. Inspired by The Louvre there is a beautiful detail piece in the center of the building and plenty of windows allowing indirect light to flow. A grass amphitheater is located on the west side of the building utilizing one of the faces of the building and a platform carved into the steps that border the shaded open area.
